In part 1 on this blog, I suggested that for every £1000.00 you spend on your loudspeakers you allocate:

£400.00 for your speaker cables

£200.00 for your RCA stereo interconnects

£250.00 for your XLR stereo interconnects

£200.00 for each mains power cable.

All cable manufacturers have a discrete range of products at different prices. Generally speaking, each higher price cable will be about twice the price of the next down. This is because the manufacturer does not wish to lose a sale by not having a product at the right price point for the customer.

If you take the example above, the manufacturer of the £400.00 loudspeaker cable will probably have loudspeaker cables prices at £200.00, £400.00 and £800.00 in their range. If we say that a £400.00 loudspeaker cable is best matched to a £1000.00 pair of loudspeakers and the £200.00 loudspeaker cable is best matched to a £500.00 pair of loudspeakers, what is the best cable match for loudspeakers priced between £500.00 and £1000.00. For those loudspeakers closer to £1000.00 the £400.00 cables will be best and for those closer to £500.00 the £200.00 loudspeaker cable will be best.

In this case, I would suggest the £200.00 cable as best for loudspeakers priced up to £700.00 and the £400.00 cable best for loudspeakers priced between £700.00 and £1400.00.

If we apply these principles to the current Black Rhodium range we get;
